#MalaysiaMembaca

Well, who does reading anyway nowadays?

Jesteru sebagai seorang rakyat Malaysia yang membudayakan pembacaan di masa-masa terluang maka saya sambut tagar ini dengan rasa kegembiraan yang melambung tinggi.

I dont know how will others do their list, but for me, if the story is gripping so much or whether someone asking for recommendations, these were the books that often comes into my mind. Or just simply the book that I’ll get through over and over again while on my reading slump.

Sorry about the rojak thingy today, but today is a special day, so lets go for it!

10 Buku Kegemaran Saya

1. Rasul Mulia, Akhlak Mulia, Ummat Mulia by Muhammad Noor

Non Fiction : Religious

I get them on my 16th birthday I guess, and just read it like after 3 years in bookshelves when at that time I’ve got myself so heartbroken and clueless about what will happen next. I used to be someone who likes to question everything about my culture and religion, I mean why we must do that or that and what the reason? Its just my curiosity was way too much.

Lets say I decided to put an end to that with learning what I should learn long ago – stop questioning and researching. While reading this book I may not learn everything but I do learn the fundamental to start being a better muslim.

This book simplifies the recording life of ulama and things that we can take an example with based on Quran and Sunnah. A very light book and straight to the point and the most important thing it has the reference.

2. Bits of Heaven by Aishah Madidiy

Fiction: Contemporary, Journalism, Religious

Since I read this book I decided to sharpen my english writing starting with my blog. That does not mean that I didnt proud of my origin language but I simply inspire by how the words can touch so many people (that does not mean I can speak in english well in real life too).

I’ve read her blog (sadly cant provide the link because I think she deleted her blog account) about how author sharpens their skills, she said that not everyone realizes but author read-a-lot too. And if you are wondering how do I found all the words written here, it must be because I took that advise a little more serious (by being a book blogger) and also I need to read more (cause at the end of this blog I certainly feel that I’ve got so many grammar mistakes somewhere )

3. Flawed by Cecelia Ahern

Fiction: Dystopian, crime, young adult

If there is another author who asks me for a good reference in building a character and improving emotion link towards the character than this is the book. I mean I scream every end chapter on how grabbing this story plot was. Its like, all the obstacle comes into you like a raining of a meteor and you be like that person who-ACCEPT-IT-ALL-FOR-GOD-SAKE. Tough life, really .

I tell you that the main character in here is just so strong and stone-heart. I feel like I want to be beside her every second and cheer her up. She has a terrible life in a dystopian world.

4. The Kite Runner by Khaleed Hussein

Fiction: Contemporary, culture, family

Well, who doesnt like this masterpiece? I have trouble in making through the several beginning chapters but finally, catch up with the beat only to tear my heart apart at the end. Its life guys, things just work like that and sometimes if we cant prevent it, we need to heal it. And its a loongggg journey that claim a lot of sacrifices.

5. The History of Hillary Hambrushina by Melanie Lamb

Fiction: Contemporary, self finding

Also a bit same with The Kite Runner but not as details as those. I nearly DNF this book but for some reason, I continue to read it and then boom! I cried on the corner of my bed in the middle of the night thinking how this book resembles me (and how good it was).

The struggle to fit in, being left alone because everyone thinks you are freak. Well, a bit overdramatic but you get the main idea. This book was focused on building your self after failing too hard when you expected to be good.

6. Warcross by Marie Lu

Fiction: Sci Fi, Crime, Con, Hacker, Heist, YA

Ahh books and games? How well this two blend with each other? I enjoy a game playthrough which has a rich story content but what I really enjoy the most is when a sci fi games been cramped into a book where I can read, bring along into coffee shop or simply make a creative photo out of it (yeah we devour our book so much like that) just because it is a book!

If you are a blogger and a gamer (like me I guess) then this book is definitely your thing. Thank God Marie Lu had that background in games industrial and does not neglect that some people do enjoy stories in games. but this time, a game that been converted into story ~ and that other delicious thing to look forward into.

Read Warcross Excerpt here.

7. A Court Of Mist & Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Fiction: YA, High Fantasy, Romantic

Think im gonna passed my fave plot twist book? No no no. Haha. Well I brag a lot about this book in my blog and that including here. I guess I’ll jump into the main reason why I recommend so much about this book.

THE PLOT TWIST of course. It was a trilogy, and you cant expect too much from the first book. This trilogy change so much my perspective towards the continuations of another sequel. You really CANT EXPECT TOO MUCH FROM THE FIRST BOOK. It may differ twist on the next book (yeah like putting your heart in blender kinda feel).

8. Hotel for the Lost by Suzanne Young

Fiction: Paranormal, Mystery

I was charmed on how this book was written, I was totally immersed by the plot, it was just so intimate, so relate. I could not stand that when the main character found the terrible truth behind all of it. Its a paranormal genre book, so someone gonna played the ghost part, right? It was just soooo heartbreaking. 😭

My two cents on how this story end was both heartbroken but also heartwarming. It was a bitter ending but for the right reason. No words can explain how powerful this book does to my emotion.

9. The Teen Guide’s to Social Media & Mobile Devices by Jonathan McKee

Non Fiction: Social Guide

I picked this book cause I was totally aware of how nowadays tech consumes most of my socialization between people. This book really expresses my concern especially towards myself and how my future children gonna be. How can they survive in the real world if they have a mom who is attached to the devices all the time? And this thought makes me so down.

Reading this is like reading something that you already know the consequences but had been buried inside yourself so deep that you neglect the issues, you feel it was unimportant until this very book raise it. This was a perspective changing book as I glad to choose it in the first place.

10. The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo

Fiction: Paranormal, mystery solving, culture

It was a light reading, it does not have to push your brain too much about the plot cause it was rather straightforward. Its also have a little bit of riddle and mystery that will feed your curiosity at a correct amount. There are also thrill in every Li Lan journey and I’ve been with her in her glorious and sadness moment (I love this girl despite how innocent and stupid she was) but she deserves someone to be loved. Hail yeah to the all sweet girls of the world. Woman power!

Have you made your list yet? Oh please share the link below so everyone know. <3 <3

July Wrap Up

Hello there everyone, may you have a very wonderful day. I have so much fun in July but I also have to face a quite hard situation and suspects it may be the main reason why I blog slump so much. But that is life, we will get through it now or soon so what we have to lose? Life must go on and hell yah scroll this page girl!

Book Haul on July

I’ve been thinking since August is my country, Malaysia’s National Day, I shall read more local books to show my support for my beloved country author and make tons of review for local books this August! Let the local books shine across the world~

  • Membongkar Rahsia Dunia Melayu by Srikandi Al-Semantani Ibnu Rusydi (Translated: Unfold The Secret of Malay World)

To make it obvious, I really need to learn about my origin, although Im actually a Sabahan but I’m a Malay in idcard. 😛

  • Arkitek Jalanan by Teme Abdullah (Translated: Street Architect)

I heard this was a good motivational books which I dont want to missed out. I need (desperately) to boost my spirit. Good things comes after we make good things right? So I hope I’ll learn how to be good :3.

  • Legendary (Caraval #2) by Stephanie Garber

Sequel to Caraval, I remember how much I love the mini-plot twist on Legendary and how well written the plot was. I cant really guess what will happen next but the curiosity often the reason why I need to read this sequel. Who is the mastermind of all of this?

  • A Thousand Perfect Notes by C.G. Drews

A debut book from my fave book blogger @paperfury. She is a superb phenomenon writer and I love every bit of her writing so this IS NOT TO MISSED OUT BOOK (TRUST ME YOU REALLY NEED THIS ONE!)

  • Haruan Mendayung by Muhd Nurzharif (Translated: Snakehead Rowing)

Why do people does not fall in love with a classic cover showing people rowing in the lake? I’m just so hooked up actually both with the title and the book cover.

  • Didera Hujan by Muhd Nurzharif (Translated: Abused by rain)

Hooked because of the review. And after like reading it for a while (been staying in my current reading since the beginning of July now) I realize that this book was a kind of book that I never read before. It was a rare species and does not often a type of writing that author always used. I need to bear with it a few more chapters so I can conclude my experience with this kind of writing.

  • Remang An Anthology of Ghostly Tales edited by Daphne Lee

Uuh, a horror story made by local Malaysian and been told in english, that is so my cup of tea.

  • Wizra Kronika Nashan by Ahmad Patria

Epic high fantasy book by local bestseller. I swear I’ve known this writer somewhere until I found on my mom collection of books that this author used to be under Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka. No wonder his name sound familiar. And he got his own writing style which I adore so much.

  • Keris Long Leh by Syauqie MK

Spooky reading mode activated!

P/s : No im not doing the translation for fun, its the closest translation I can find. 😛

To Be Read

I have only like nine more books to complete my reading challenge this year (ha ha ha, so tiny amount for a book blogger but mind you this is all to keep my sanity on track) therefore I decided to read way more leisure reading which will be :

July Post

Thanks to my blogging slump I manage only to post three article with a low quality of writing (I deeply apologize for that).

Travel Cronology : Laskar Pelangi Island (Belitung Island)

I’ve been lucky enough to have a visit into my long lost family in Belitung, Indonesia. I’ve concluded it with tons of pictures because of just out of word I am describing the wonderful feeling while im there. Head out to the link above to sightseeing. 😀 Belitung is such a very beautiful place especially when you have your family with you.

Fresh Roses In My Garden Need The Rain

I never knew that this would happen to me again. I got depressed, in a very torn and horrid way. I even think to take my own life, but Alhamdulillah, I shall thank Allah for His Merciful toward me, giving me good friends who always by my side and a good tarbiyah to make sure im on the right path. I’m not a girl with good words before but as a girl who believes that writing is a form of therapy, therefore I write my journey a bit on how I overcome that awful feeling.

Laini’s Homestay :  A Very Nice Place to Be

My best friend who work in KL is coming home, and as a group of five, we manage to get ourselves a mini gateway whilst his day off here. And since raya vibes is still around the corner at that times, so, eating is a must!

Song I’ve Listened

Cause im so into roses and rainy mood.

So that is it for July that I can recap. May this August bring more happiness and joyful day into our life. See you soon. <3

Fresh Roses In My Garden Need The Rain

“Jadi apa guna kami?”

How foolish I am to absorb anything with my own. So stupid and selfish of me.

Problem happen for a reason, we all aware of that right? But sometimes, just sometimes when it hit the right spot of your heart and break it apart what makes it extra painful. Even a painkiller I doubt will even work. Truly is, I have a difficult time last week and one of those morning I even think to take my own life. I know I know, but dont worry here I am, healthy and even better. I finally feel better, after those burden, and constantly I begin to feed myself with positive vibes.

I feel lucky tho to be a muslimah, where I rise performing salah and pray to Allah Almighty, without His guide I’m totally lost.

People said depression does not discriminate, and it was another form of deep sadness. When other people think that you just need your time but not even a smile can make it better. You feel self guilt, stuck in somewhere, extra foolish, extra fear of everything. Well at least I have been through that experience. And what Im gonna say about that not how to handle it but how to realize, that you still have a chance, to get out from that depression situation.

Trust In Allah – ketika kita berjalan menuju Allah, Dia sudah berlari menuju kita. Dia sangat dekat dihati yang even kita pun tak faham. Dia kan Pemilik Hati. 🙂

I also share my feeling on spaces I never shared before, and Alhamdulillah due to the respond I have some this tiny bright hope, that I can be apart from this miserable feeling. What Im trying to say, keep communicate with every person who loves you and always be on your side whenever you feel slightly away. This world does not that cruel to leave you alone. 🙂

I just write some things on here to remembering this moment. A situation that I thought will be my final battle, but the world have so much to offer and its our job to accept it pieces by pieces. At least, there are always hope. That everybody can be live into fullest whenever we feel in content and treat every problem as a tiny pieces of cakes. Expensive but edible.

Cheers. Not the least nor the last.

P/s Have you heard songs uploaded on You Tube by Apeiron? I swear the playlist bring the feelings of staying in old bookstore reading and reading and forget about the world. Oh my. Makes me fall in love with reading all over again.

Best of Running Man

If you ever arrived in this post thinking about what would be a good start episode to fan over Running Man im sorry to dissapoint you but this would be a kickstart for doing so.

Running Man is a Korean Variety Show that debuted almost 8 years before and I’ve been watching every episode of it since Family Outing. I’ve been a fan of Yu Jae Suk mcee skills and Jong Kook schema humor. Seeing them both in Running man really put me in excitement.

There is been so much up and down on this K-Show from passing around directors, Jong Ki and Gary left, when they bought So Min & Se Chan in as a permanent member. Slowly for me, this show has gain their own followers time to time.

Some of my friends stopped watching this when Gary left the show but I keep watching it as other reality show does not match with my cup of tea. As a fan who loves to watch this show there are several things that I thought make this show has its own uniqueness :

  1.   New member: So Min & Se Chan

My honest opinion about this two is they have their own pro and contrast, their addition to the team obviously formed a new kind of friendship and change slightly the role of each team member. Since Ji Hyo used to be the center of attention as the only female of the team, now she has So Min and they slowly develop into a sisterhood relationship. With the addition of Se Chan into the ally, he is kind of competing with Kwang Soo to get Jong Kook possesion but at the same time will do anything to backstab Jong Kook whenever they get the chance. Its also and addition to the betrayal team which a Haha’s special intelligence, combining the mischevious Kwang Soo & the daebak acting from Se Chan.

2.  The Role of each member

As my observation since this day, I would love to label their role in Running Man with my point of view.

  • Yu Jae Seok : His awesome experience in mceeing make him super professional and he knows how to handle the official member and guest member through the show. Let us take an example when Haha’s turn to make his opening 10seconds (ep401) introduction line episode when he invited his mother (who have some time to get over the rules) and Jae Seok handling her like a professional by explaining politely that she should not do that.
  • Jong Kook: Well he is the toughest guy in this show and everyone seems to afraid of him that will do anything to backstabbing him if they dont desperately need to ally with him. He and Jae Seok keep nagging a lot but they do have a high sense of humor when it comes to entertaining the audience.source
  • Ji Hyo: Nowadays, Ji Hyo portraits as a mature sister who takes care of her younger sister which is So Min but also a very fierce woman in attacking another male member. She is so lucky every time and had a very charming role in the series.
  • Ji Suk Jin: Im sorry for this uncle, but his presence in the team potraits as a victim to sarcasm and funny jokes from the other member. He always been teased as the weakest member and the older member but I respect him for surviving this shows so long and this show will never be the same without him. Thank you Suk Jin for your roles.
  • Haha: Haha is likes a double agent member, can be strong in term of strategy, but in physically he is a total out. He is so funny and taken all the things seriously and put a bit of humor into it. He used to be a flirty guy and fangirling all over female guest before, but since he got married he really portrays an image of highly calculating strategy.
  • Kwang Soo: BZf6The most untrusted male member and had a lot of betrayal record before. He is famous for his enormous tallest in the show and for his skills in framing other with fictions story. But he is the dongsaeng of the RM family and all of them take care of him like an annoying little brother. He is indeed annoying but he his a family too.
  • Yang Se Chan: I heard he is a famous young comedian and I only know Se Chan from the RM shows, and his several first appearances as an official member do not satisfy me because of I’m unsure about his role in the show. But slowly he made his own progress and develop his own self in the show. Like for episode 405 for example, he had been given an important role and he nails it with the acting skills he had. I am very excited with the end and almost shock out how do Se Chan can ever pull it.
  • So Min: She is so cute, clumsy girl and very adorable.6c3a889580a45dbe63631a52ee26cb22 I love it when she ever paired with Kwang So as the two of them make a hilarious out of shame couple ever. She try so hard to be funny and for me that is so respectable as there are trillions other kshow out there but there is nothing like So Min.

Called me an old school but Running Man hardly make me disappoint compared to kdrama, they have new kind of directing perspective and I even fall in love hard with the nowadays episodes. The directing team makes a very good job of improving the RM shows so that it still have their place in the audience heart.

Trivia: What is Running Man episode release day of the week? and what do you think of Running Man episodes nowadays?

Count The Blessings

Alhamdulillah summa Alhamdulillah, finally, its here, the glory of Holiday, 7 days of no headache results from draining energy working day. Yay. Did I tell you that I love the holiday so much? Although sometimes it makes me bored in doing nothing but staying at home. That doesnt mean I come out with a proper plan for my seven days holiday, I stick to my old routine: be lazy and follow the flow.

There are so many reasons for me to be depressed but there is countless more reason to be not and most of it about counting the blessing instead of the things we never will attain from the first place.

  • I have a proper new Baju Kurung this year

Finally, after two years using the same garment from previous year I have a proper tailored kurung this year. And that my friend is an achievement *winking*. Although the cost is quite high for a girl who abandoned her fabrics without sending them to tailor in two years respectively then this is clearly acceptable. Maybe next year I dont need any kurung after all, ha ha ha.

  • Seven days of holiday

Apart from my send-to-tailor achievement Alhamdulillah our company agree to close our business shortly for seven days for the Eid Fitr. We have long prepared since Kaamatan holiday which we substitute and extend into Eid Fitr holiday. So this is the long waited days of this year for me especially. I felt all the burden had been lifted up from me a bit and I really hope that this short break will restore my energy for the next working day (which will be next seven days, yayyyy).

  • Open House hunting

I’ve been planned with my fellow friend to visit any open house that welcomes us, just that maybe tomorrow I’ll ask them to come out with a list for our raya convoy. This convoy like a tradition every year between me and my secondary schoolmates. We are just that close to each other and really really enjoy when it time to spend times together.

  • Coming out with a proper plan and strategy for business

Well, that’s the problem with a business owner, our performance does not come that great this two months and I need to come with a plan to minimize the cost and boost our performance, but I decide to leave this matter aside until the next Wednesday. I hope I have a fresh idea, to begin with.

  • Sampul Raya

It has been last year when it struck me when a friend of mine giveaway her Sampul Raya to any children she meets during our visit to an open house. And she tell me this words that I keep in my mind till this day : I always bring Sampul Raya so that I can bring joy to this children.

Then I realize if we have a little bit of rezeki why not we share it right? Its a month of sharing the joy after all. Since that day I tell myself, if I have a little bit of fortune then I will share it for the sake of Allah. May Allah substitute it with far more blessed things. Ameen.

May you all have a blessing Eid Fitr with your family and beloved ones.
