Goodreads Summary

At the dawn of time, there were 13 Houses in the Zodiac Galaxy. Now only 12 remain….

Rhoma Grace is a 16-year-old student from House Cancer with an unusual way of reading the stars. While her classmates use measurements to make accurate astrological predictions, Rho can’t solve for ‘x’ to save her life—so instead, she looks up at the night sky and makes up stories.

When a violent blast strikes the moons of Cancer, sending its ocean planet off-kilter and killing thousands of citizens—including its beloved Guardian—Rho is more surprised than anyone when she is named the House’s new leader. But, a true Cancerian who loves her home fiercely and will protect her people no matter what, Rho accepts.

Then, when more Houses fall victim to freak weather catastrophes, Rho starts seeing a pattern in the stars. She suspects Ophiuchus—the exiled 13th Guardian of Zodiac legend—has returned to exact his revenge across the Galaxy. Now Rho—along with Hysan Dax, a young envoy from House Libra, and Mathias, her guide and a member of her Royal Guard—must travel through the Zodiac to warn the other Guardians.

But who will believe anything this young novice says? Whom can Rho trust in a universe defined by differences? And how can she convince twelve worlds to unite as one Zodiac?

Embark on a dazzling journey with ZODIAC, the first novel in an epic sci-fi-meets-high-fantasy series set in a galaxy inspired by the astrological signs.

I dont know why but Zodiac resembles ACOMAF. Only in a bit different way, such that Hysan Dax have a slighty same pronunciation as Rhysand. I found this book was actually entertaining in telling casual jokes. I laugh by how straightforward it is, but it was the first book of the series what can I expect from the main character?
Surrounding Environment
Every houses or civilian in the Zodiac world believe that Ophiuchus was only a legend, such as Rumplestistkin in our real world. It was child ghost story. So when Rho announce that all the misfortune they encounter was actually Ophiu doing, no one believe her, and surprisingly that including me.
Albeit all the scene where she meet the real Ophiu there is something fishy about it. I can tell because civilians and board of the Guardian was totally neglecting for her childlike story. Her own Royal Guard and ambassador does not believe her and I really thought she had been deceived but God knows who.  And for Rho, she’s just a child, so fragile and lots of eagerness making her so clumsy by doing so much mistakes and lead her to a more irrevocably ways. Hmm. I pity her so much and it annoy me.
The Characters
Rhoma Grace – Annoying as she was just too stubborn and a noob in deciding her role as a House Leader. Shes so desperate in building her own misfortune world and the only things that she always think of is how to combat Ophiu. She was just so desperate, desperate telling the Zodiac, desperate to search who will believe her, desperate in attaining her crush heart. She was totally a disaster.
Hysan Dax – The only one who believe Rho, and he is a Guardian too only he have been pointed since eleven so he and the previous guardian make a plan to disguise his truth identity. He fall in love with Rho and i’m rooting they will be together.

Marthias – The Royal Guard of Rho and happen to be her crush. Pftttt, the love triangle was really sucks. I have all the reason in this world to not fall in love with this guy but Rho did! I dont know what she’s sees in him but I guess its just because love is blind. :3
The World Building
The Zodiac world was huge, I have hard time to imagine the coolness of the device but I enjoy on how the character interacts, the cultures which features by every Zodiac sign, it was funny and hilarious, the joy of being child like and discovering the world.
The book was just okay from me but I just want Rho grows into a more powerful and badass characters. Right now on book one she had a desperate judgement in her way of life. I want her to be exact of putting her love to, just dont give her the reason to fall in love with two person at once, its actually sucks and I have to read all through the book knowing that those guys were been took for granted, none of them actually valuable to her. I hate her for playing with a man’s heart especially Hysan. Hmmph. Noob girl.
I’m sorry on how much I hate Rho, but tbh I’ll come back for the sec book with hopes that she’ll learn how to live with more credibility towards her role, find the strength of her heart and gives up everything just for Hysan. Because I like Hysan more than Marthias, Marthias is a &*(&(^. :3
